THE PURPOSE FOR EXISTENCE !!

God answers this concern by His own Word.  "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."  1 Peter 2:9.

 We are talking about the purposes for existence because, you are chosen and called of God to show forth God’s power, wisdom, love, and justice.  Further, the Father of light says "Be blameless and harmless the sons of God without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world holding forth the word of life."  Phil 2:15, 16. The Sons of God are to speak words that are life!  When we research the origin of mankind, the inerrant Holy record states that, "In the beginning”, or at the origin of mankind God said "Let us make mankind in our image after our likeness….  So God created mankind in His own image in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them, And God blessed them."  Genesis 1 & 2.  Man (which is male and female) was created in God's image!  Unfortunately, mankind chose to disobey or sin, which is to separate from the express image of God.  Through sin or rebellion man chose to destroy his connection with the Source of Life.

 But God, who is love (1 John 4:8) had in place, from times eternal, a plan which would recreate mankind, if they should fall from their original condition and position. Thus a way to be restored to the express image of God existed.  We are talking about the purposes for existence. One of the main purposes was for mankind to reflect the express image of God.  Come now, let us reason together, and consider this question.  What does being in the image of God mean?  I assure you it has little or nothing to do with physical form.  Holy Writ says,  "God is a Spirit" John 4:24.  Further it is written, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit."  Marvel not that I say unto thee, Ye must be born again" John 3: 6,7.  Finally in 1 Cor. 6:17 it declares, "he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit."  So here is the relevance and conclusion.

 In the recreation, which the Bible refers to as being born again, man becomes one spirit with God.  This is what being created in the image of God means.  We are discussing the purposes for existence, and we have seen that one major purpose for mans existence is to be one spirit with God.  Let's look at it from another perspective.  We already understand that "God is a Spirit". John 4:24 And then we find the Holy record records "that the law of God is Spiritual”, and that the Law of God is "holy and just and good”.  Rom 7.  Now I have a thought provoking question.  Where does the Bible teach us that the God, who is a Spirit, covenants to put His law, which is holy, just, good, and spiritual?  Heb. 8:10 says, "Thus saith the Lord, I will put my Laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts and I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people”. "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts, and I will be to them a God and they shall be to me a people” And so again here is the relevance as it relates to what we are talking about, which is the Purposes for existence.  God created mankind or recreates mankind to be one with Him in Spirit, and to reflect the holy, just, good, and spiritual nature of God, because God has written His own character or law in their minds and hearts during the recreation process.  Remember, God declares, "that the law is spiritual".  Rom 7:14   So therefore, when God fulfills the New Covenant in us by writing His Law in our heart and mind, we become spiritual minded.  Holy record declares, "To be spiritually minded is life and peace."  Rom 8:6 We are obedient to God's law of love, which is the conduct of true life.

 Please understand that when we speak of the life which God gives in His plan of salvation we are in all cases and at all times speaking of God sharing His own life with us which is Eternal life.  Holy records say, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” 1 John 5:11-13.

 So we conclude that another purpose for existence is to have the opportunity to receive the gift of the Life of God, which is Eternal Life.  Ask yourself the question; what in heaven would I be doing for eternity?  Rev 3:21 where the glorified Saviour is speaking, declares, "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in His throne."  Grasp the meaning of this text.  In it, God in the Revelation of Himself declares or promises that to all overcomers, it will be given to them to share the very throne of God for eternity.  Upon very close investigation of the word throne in this text we find that it means, "To be in the seat or office of a ruler having very great power."  So here is the relevance and conclusion.  One of, if not the most noble purpose for existence is to receive the reward of all overcomers, which is to rule as one with God the whole universe.  Our God longs to share His throne with His children.

So in ending, let me conclude in the words of the wise man; "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter” the purposes for existence are for us to:

1)     Choose to be one in a called and chosen priesthood, which is a holy nation, who live in and reflect the light of life.  

2)     By the creative power of God, though fallen be restored to the express image of God.       

3)     Through our recreated spirit be eternally one with God’s Eternal Omnipotent and Omniscient Spirit.  

4)      In the two departments of our soul; the mind and heart, have God write His law, which is Righteousness, which is love, which is life, which is the nature and character of God written within

5)     Be partakers in God's life, which is eternal.  We all share one life, the eternal life of God.  

6)     Finally, as if all that we said is not enough, God, who is the one and only potentate - yea even the Sovereign One, has promised to share his sovereignty with us who overcome.  We are to share the very throne of the God and Creator of the Universe.

 Beloved, if you need some noble, inspiring purposes for your existence you now have them by the grace and Word of God - AMEN.
